After noticing a common conversation amongst artists: “they were longing for a sense of community, support and needed education in business skills to be able to work effectively as a freelancer or small salon owner” Melanie founded the MAGAP, and in doing so created a home to unite, nurture and empower artists. Not one to sit around waiting for work to fall in her lap, she thinks outside the box and has a knack for seeing gaps in the market and creating opportunities within business.
Melanie’s talks empower artists by teaching strong business foundations that result in long, sustainable and profitable business well into the future. Purpose, brand, clarity, strategy and resilience are the key fundamentals she brings to life. She encourages artists and small business owners to understand themselves, their business, and to know that they are more than “just a makeup artist” when working for themselves. Her thought-provoking and engaging conversation is raw, real, and talks candidly of the roller coaster ride a freelancer or small business will endure on their path to success. She also explains how to utilise the superpower that is “purpose” to stay strong whilst riding the wave to reach career milestones.
Having worked in the field herself Melanie shares her successes and failures and explores how to find the success in failure by placing the ego aside and accepting the lessons available in order to grow and learn. Melanie’s resilient mindset and solutions-based strategies will help artists find their feet and move forward even when they’re in a rut. Her aim is for attendees to start thinking as true creatives, by encouraging them to see potential beyond what’s physically in front of them, and in turn creating their own opportunities.
