James Mac is an internationally acclaimed, London-Irish freelance makeup artist & drag artist. James came to prominence in 2020 as 1st runner up on BBC/ Netflix’s series “Glow Up” Season 2. James’ focus is on hyper-creative looks, fashion, editorial & drag-inspired artistry. Pre-pandemic, James’ career commenced as a makeup trainee for UK TV/film productions. Credentials include Netflix’s Alfred Hitchcock adaptation of “Rebecca” starring Lily James & Kirstin Scott Thomas & CBBC’s Horrible History Series. Celebrity clientele includes Hulu’s “This Way Up” star Aisling Bea & Netflix’s, “Heart Stopper” star Yasmin Finney.
James returned to Ireland amidst the pandemic for 18 months, tv resting online content, growing his social media channels alongside Glow Up S2 airing (@jmac_mua)
Following the show, James’ career has broadened into TV presenting, Semi-Final guest judging on Glow Up Ireland, modeling, and leading social media campaigns.
A graduate of Dublin City University, with a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia studies – James’ major was in photography and visual communications, which led itself into his current work. James has recently showcased his first 4-day international makeup masterclass as a Senior Faculty member for editorial and special effects makeup at the Aliya Baig Academy of Makeup in Hyderabad, India – partnered with the International Makeup Association.
He is currently based in London investing in his freelance career alongside social media, whilst maintaining his online presence.
