In his first time at The Makeup Show, James will share his inspiring story and show you how he creates his unforgettable looks. He will offer insight on choosing the right tool, take you through his process and talk about building your name in a competitive industry. Model, recording artist, performer and makeup artist, Miss Fame has done just that and managed to capture the collective imagination in the process. Miss Fame continues as trend-setter and a ground-breaker to make an impression with all she does. With an always impressive drive, talent, and a constant vision, Miss Fame is doing it all on an international level. In this first time main stage presentation, Miss Fame, whose real name is Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen, will share the story of what led him from San Louis Obispo to the world of modeling and makeup. He will demonstrate the skill and reveal the secrets that go into his internationally recognized makeup applications. Watch a Master at work and witness the art of transformation. Social Influence: Rich Lux – Saturday April 10, 1:45pm-2:45pm
Makeup has become a major presence in today’s mass media. The influence of social media and the impact of engagement has allowed makeup to be used to create careers in a variety of ways with countless opportunities. In this main stage presentation, Houston’s very own Rich Lux joins our Director of Artistry, James Vincent to offer some insight on how you can utilize modern marketing in your own brand and business. Rich will share his story to inspire you to take your own engagement to all new levels.

 

Editorial Artistry: Danessa Myricks & Linh Nguyen – Saturday April 10, 3:00pm-4:30pm

Developing hair and makeup for editorial requires an eye for artistry and an advanced skill set. In this session, celebrity hair stylist and makeup artist Linh Nguyen and Danessa Myricks take to the stage to share their insight on editorial. They will offer advice on how to work in this exciting area of the industry while sharing their inspirational editorial beauty work they’re known for.

 

Image & Influence: Jordan Liberty – Sunday April 11, 10:00am-11:30am

Acclaimed Makeup Artist Daniel Martin has become one of the most talked about men in makeup. Coveted by celebrities, copied by brides and watched with intense interest by the industry, Daniel has brought natural beauty back to the spotlight, elevated what it can be and inspired many to do the same. With an unmatched eye for beauty, New York- based Daniel Martin began his career apprenticing at an Aveda concept salon before teaching for the brand regionally. His work has been featured in British Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar, and he was also one of two makeup artists to participate in the historic “All Black” issue of Vogue Italia, shot by photographer Steven Meisel. Martin counts Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex as his loyal client, as well as Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Alba, Gemma Chan, and Jessica Biel.

In our competitive beauty industry: talent, drive and tenacity is essential to success.  Navigating your career and social media while maintaining your integrity and authenticity can seem overwhelming. Makeup Artist, Renny Vasquez has managed to make a name for himself in NYC, the DMV, and internationally by bringing his brand of artistry from coast to coast. Using social media,  artist events and an impressive work ethic to spread his beauty message, Renny has become a go-to for celebrities and a favorite among artists. With clients including Jennifer Hudson, Serena Williams, Gabrielle Union and Chrissy Teigen, just to name a few on his resumé. Renny is an artist of influence representing a number of brands and bringing his vision and voice to numerous platforms. Watch and learn as Renny speaks about his own story, shares his ideas on what you can do to put your own career on the fast track and the important relationship between art and influence along with an example of the beautiful makeup for which he is known for.

Our IN the Studio classes provide an educational experience to artists of all levels to help refine their makeup skills and elevate their artistry and career in an intimate setting. Each class allows attendees to listen and learn through demonstration, coaching, discussion and practice hands-on while receiving informative feedback from their instructor. Registrants will also have the opportunity to use different products from brands that will be participating at the show.
