Daniel Takahashi

Daniel Takahashi is a Mexican artist born in 1993. At a very young age, his passion for character design and creation begun to grow. Having shown his potential for drawing and sculpting, Daniel achieved his first formal exhibition of art at the age of eight in the framework of the “Ninth International Congress of Neurology” at the Hotel del Rey in Toluca City,
Mexico. From there, Daniel’s path was clear and he begun to pursue his dream. He immersed himself into the world of makeup and practical special effects for film and television.

Daniel graduated from the program “Makeup Design for Film and TV” at “Vancouver Film School” (Vancouver, BC, Canada) where he built a strong portfolio and had the opportunity of joining the group of artists at “Lindala Schminken FX Inc.”. With Toby Lindala’s guidance, Daniel was part of the process of prosthetic fabrication for different feature films and TV shows such as “Supernatural”, “Once Upon a Time” and “Power Rangers” featuring actress Elizabeth Banks.

Daniel returned to Mexico as an active freelance makeup artist. Offering services to the general public, he
worked as a special SFX artist for small projects and local independent films. Later on he worked for SFX
studios in Mexico City such as “MFXStudio” and “Zombie Studio” being part of the prosthetic fabrication
for local feature films, while teaching SFX courses at several makeup schools on the weekends as a
personal project.

Determined and hungry to further his education, Daniel returned to Canada to pursue his dream of
becoming a more experienced SFX artist.
Studying makeup for the second time, Daniel graduated from “Blanche Macdonald Centre” (Vancouver,
BC, Canada) from the “International Makeup Program”. He volunteered for independent short films, music
videos, photo shoots and adult entertainment films to build a more solid and diverse portfolio. Daniel
signed a paid contract with “Masters FX” being hired as a SFX artist. Under the guidance of Todd Masters,
Daniel was part of the process of the prosthetic and prop fabrication for feature films and TV shows such
as “Siren”, “The Good Doctor”, “Ice”, “The 100” and “Skyscraper” featuring Dwayne Johnson.

Daniel worked for an international Amazon production that took place in Mexico, a TV Show called
“ZeroZeroZero (ZZZ)”. He was invited to one of the biggest makeup shows in Latin America, the MUA
International Show in 2018 as a featured artist to do prosthetic makeup demonstrations on the main
stage and talk about special effects makeup to help educate people from Mexico and Latin America on
the SFX process.

Daniel has also been part of the 3rd edition of “NYX Face awards” Mexico, as a competition judge. He has
been featured in “The Artist Community”, one of the biggest makeup magazines in Latin America. Daniel
opened his own SFX studio in Mexico, a small but committed company offering services to local
production houses, independent feature films, events and customers in the general public seeking
special practical FX.

Recently Daniel had the incredible opportunity of doing a prosthetic makeup demonstration promoting
the products from “Thomas Surprenant Creations (TSC)” in Los Angeles California in January 2019.

Daniel continues to further his education and enjoys educating those around him. His passion for the
special effects makeup industry can be seen in his ability to innovate creative solutions in overcoming
geographic limitations and circumnavigating obstacles in an otherwise unforgiving environment for the
type of work he does. Daniel is always willing to share information and do whatever he can for the entire
community of artists.
