The Makeup Show keeps it in the family with Maison De La Cour’s first NYFW showing
Here at The Makeup Show we are much more than a a beauty event, we are a family. We love to see people who have worked with us, and who have attended our events make news in the fashion/beauty industry.
One of those making news in the fashion industry is Julius LaCour. He is the brother of Allison LaCour; the ambassador of The Makeup Show Orlando. Julius (also known as Juju) is the founder and designer of Chicago-based Maison De La Cour. Juju showed his line for the first time at New York Fashion Week as part of Elle Magazine Style360 presented by Conair. Maison De La Cour’s Fall 2013 collection is inspired by the grunge look of the 90’s and it’s influence in today’s fashion. Juju used a lot of plaid wools, silk shirting and safety pin embroidery for his fall collection (of which over 6,000 safety pins were used), “I wanted to make the culture somewhat luxurious” said Julius.
Julius explores themes through Maison De La Cour that many believe to be taboo. Such as: minority subcultures, and nudity. These themes come together to create a unique label unlike others currently on the market.
