Meet Emily Hudspeth our 10 year Anniversary Story winner!
The Makeup Show continues to be on the forefront of education, artistry, inspiration and the pinnacle event for the beauty industry professional.
This year The Makeup Show will be celebrating 10 years of our first event The Makeup Show NYC. We asked our entire network of attendees, brands, artists, and whoever else had a hand in creating and cultivating The Makeup Show to gives us your story of inspiration while attending The Makeup Show over the past 10 years.
This “Special Project” let us in on just how important The Makeup Show is to the people who attend it and who are a part of it. We thank all of you who sent us your stories, they were all beautifully written and heart felt with many becoming recollections of lost memories from different shows and others being difficult for one not to have a dry eye after reading.
The winner of our “Special Project” was Virginia based hair, makeup and wardrobe stylist Emily Hudspeth. Read Emily’s bio below with a few excerpts from her story as it will be featured in our 10 year anniversary book titled” 10 Years In The Making” to be sold exclusively at The Makeup Show NYC this May.

Also see below an excerpt from her winning story for our The Makeup Show Book.
“Attending the Los Angeles Makeup Show last year was a huge push for me personally and professionally. I left inspired and felt like I had a breath of much needed fresh air into my confidence and spirit as an artist and business owner. The education that I brought back fueled me creatively and meeting great artists and joining the Powder Group made me feel support that I hadn’t felt since taking the sometimes lonely road to becoming a freelance artist.
I also left feeling like I could (and would) be a great makeup artist and a great mother, at the same time. Before I had reinvested in myself there, I had been feeling quite torn between those two loves in my life, my son and my business. In Gina Brooke’s Keynote, she talked about how she shifted the way she made decisions about her career once she became a mother. I was grateful that she mentioned both parts of her life, the balance of personal and professional, she is someone that I admire.”
