Q: Who should attend The Makeup Show New York?
A: Anyone in the business of makeup! Makeup artists from every area of the industry, beauty and fashion, film and television, theater and FX, students, salon and retail makeup artists. Retailers from large and small business, salons and spas as well as beauty, fashion and trade press. The wide range of attendees are all professionals in the beauty industry and attend to discover new products, new companies, network, create new relationships and experience the makeup community like never before.
Q: Will I be able to buy product at The Makeup Show New York?
A: Yes, absolutely! The majority of our exhibitors will be offering products for sale and many will be offered at special pro-only, show-prices.
Q: Will there be any new products shown at the show?
A: For many of our vendors this will be their first opportunity to showcase a new line to the makeup artist community, so there also many new products at the show to experience. Many exhibitors, who you may already be familiar with, will also take this opportunity to feature brand new products that will launch for the first time at the show.
Q: Will there be any hands-on workshops at The Makeup Show New York?
A: Yes, there will be a series of workshops covering various areas of makeup artistry. These hands-on events will be available at an additional fee, to paid show attendees only. the schedule of theses workshops will be posted in early 2008.
Q: What type of seminars will be held at the show and what will they cost?
A: All seminars and lectures at The Makeup Show New York are free to show attendees. There will be more than 30 of these free events. Hands-on workshops are, however, offered at an additional fee. The subject matter of the seminars will run the breadth of the industry. All events will be posted on themakeupshow.com in early 2008.
Q: Who will be speaking at the seminars and workshops?
A: The event schedule, along with a list of presenters will be posted in early 2008. We will have a series of celebrity makeup artists in our lecture series and artists from across the globe represented in the speaker list. In addition, many of our exhibitors will host sessions in our show-floor seminar spaces.
Q: Do you offer student discounts to attend the show?
A: Yes, students who attend an accredited beauty related school including aesthetics, hairstyling or makeup are able to take advantage of our student discount of 10% on any admission fee. Please note: Appropriate, current (unexpired) Student ID and a photo ID must be provided at the door to gain entry. Attendees without this ID will be required to pay the remaining balance of the full fee in order to gain entry to the show.
Q: Is there a group rate?
A: Yes, please contact info@themakeupshow.com for more information on groups of fifteen or more.
Q: What proof of profession is required to enter the event?
A: As the show is a pro-only event, proof that you are a part of the makeup or beauty community will be required to enter the show. This proof may include a license, union card, business card, comp card, tear sheet with name credit, student identification (from beauty/hair/makeup school), letter of employment or from school. As well, The Powder Group will send an advance email to our list that will be able to be printed out and brought to the show as proof of working in the industry. Photo identification will also be required for advance ticket pickup.
Q: Are there other events happening around the show?
A: Absolutely. Makeup Week NYC is a pro-community event series that will follow through the week after the show. Product lines, pro-retail shops will hold a weeks worth of events, seminars, workshops and parties. These events will be listed on themakeupshow.com beginning early 2007 and many events will offer special discounts to show attendees. These events are produced by the individual events and fees, discounts and attendance policies are determined by the host company. So plan to come for the show, and stay for the week!

A: W Hotels of New York is our hotel sponsor and special room rates have been arranged for attendees. The Metropolitan Pavilion is located in middle of the Chelsea and Flatiron neighborhood on West 18th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues) and there are a large number of other hotels within walking distance.
