The Makeup Show Presents…
Andy Warhol: The Factory - a gallery of makeup arts and their influence on art, fashion, film and general fabulousness.
“A face is like a work of art, it deserves a great frame.”
– Andy Warhol
The Factory was the hippest hangout for artists of all types, amphetamine users, musicians, models, and future icons, Andy Warhol’s Superstars. It was famed for groundbreaking parties, incredible art, and fashion. It featured some of the biggest celebrities of the time, and many of the regulars were immortalized in Lou Reed’s song “Walk on the Wild Side.” Friends of Warhol and some of his superstars who hung around the Factory include Edie Sedgwick, Anita Pallenberg, Nico,The Velvet Underground, Candy Darling, Jim Morrison, David Bowie,Mick Jagger, Truman Capote, Ultra Violet, Betsey Johnson and William Burroughs, just to name a few. The influence of The Factory is still felt on fashion runways, photo shoots and film sets today, and its influence can be seen in music videos, album covers, art and design of the last four decades.
